ICAF started organizing CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CIFF) from the year 2003. All the earlier editions have seen a gradual growth in terms of attendance as well as popularity. With the film fraternity actively joining hands with ICAF since its 8th edition, the 11th edition of CIFF promises to be bigger and better.
Striving to be in par with the best International Film Festivals across the globe, CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Indian Panorama films to the cinema loving city of Chennai, just as it showcases the best of Tamil films to the world.
The Competition Section for Tamil Films that was instituted in 7th CIFF to encourage Tamil Filmmakers has been holding a strong presence.
Active participation of the Tamil film fraternity was initiated and spearheaded by Ms. Suhasini Manirathnam in the year 2009, which gave a facelift to CIFF.
ICAF’s management team includes professional from various walks of life who have a passion for movies. The senior members of ICAF include but not limited to: Mr. Kannan, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. Santhanam and Mr. Thangaraj (Festival Director), Mr. Murali, Mr. Srinivasan and more. ICAF is ably supported by the South Indian Film Chamber, Producers Council, Artists & Directors Association.
The film Fraternity team providing active support to ICAF include: Ms. Suhasini, Mr. Sarathkumar, Mr.Mohan, Ms. Revathy, Ms. Rohini, Mr. Jayendra, Mr. Manobala, Ms. Lizzy, Ms. Poornima, Ms. Shylaja and many more.
The festival’s presence is felt on the web, social network sites, TV and FM radio apart from the print medium. The curtain-raiser press meets, opening and closing ceremonies, gala cultural shows, Chennai Film Forum Panel Discussions, Exclusive ‘Red Carpet’ evening screenings for an invited audience etc., all studded with film personalities from international, national and popular regional cinema all add substantially to the festival's experience. Versatility and creativity will go hand in hand at the CIFF to give an exceptional experience.
11th CIFF will be inaugurated on Thursday 12 Dec 2013 and the closing ceremony will be on 19 Dec 2013. Audiences can get an opportunity to watch the best of films from all over the world. Rejoicing festivity for all lovers of good cinema.

Hon'ble Minister of Information of Government of Tamil Nadu, Padmasri Sh. Kamal Haasan, Mr. Amir Khan, Government Officials, Representatives from Film Industry Associations and sponsors are to grace the festival’s opening function.
Mr. Mohanlal and the Jury members of Tamil feature films competition will grace the festival’s closing functions along with a galaxy of film personalities. Both opening and closing functions will held in Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chennai
The festival screenings will be held in eight screens in total in five venues namely Woodland Theatre Complex (2 screens), Inox Screens (2 screens), Abirami Mega Mall (2 Screens), Rani Seethai Hall & Casino Theatre.
The festival functions will witness strong active participation from the film fraternity, corporate houses, Consulates / Embassies, prominent Chennaites, press / media, student volunteers and a large number of movie buffs.
12 Tamil feature films will compete for the CIFF Award for Best Film (Director & Producer), Second Best Film (Director & Producer) & the Special Jury Award.
The Jury Members for the Tamil feature film competition are Shri R.V.Udayakumar, Producer | Director who will head the jury, Actor, Director Smt. Sripriya and prominent writer Shri. S. Ramakrishnan.
Amitabh Bachchan award for the “Youth Icon of the Year” is a new award instituted this year.
Film Buff award in special appreciation for one passionate movie buff attending the festival and participating in the online contest with maximum entries will be given for the fourth consecutive year.
Three Chennai Film Forum Discussions will be held with the participation of film professionals | Press and registered delegates.
165 films from 58 countries will be screened which include films won awards in Cannes, Berlin and Venice IFFs and to name a few

The CIFF Anthem created this year has music by Mr. Prakash Nikki, Lyrics by Actor/activist Rohini and the voices of Andrea, Vallavan & Yuki.
The CIFF DAILY BUZZ Newsletter will be available on all 8 days with a wide readership amongst the city’s filmbuffs. Prefest edition on Dec 5th 2013 introduces the festival highlights.
Students volunteers from city colleges work in various departments. Venue management, hospitality, reportage and AV coverage are some of the areas they assist on.
Celebrity Volunteers Team conceives & executes several activities. CIFF has the active participation of the Thamizh film & TV industry supporting ICAF.
